NEWS: Triple go rooound ‘n’ up ‘n’ between

Update (Sat, Aug 10, 2024): I was able to complete the challenge in 198:58:11 (8d 6h 58min). See report.

Because wildfires foiled adventure plans A, B, C, D, E, F, … to S, I cooked up plan T: the Triple go rooound ‘n’ up ‘n’ between. The name says it all. And plan T stands for Training.

The challenge

The challenge consists in

  • circumnavigating and
  • summiting Mt. St. Helens (8,363ft), Mt. Adams (12,281ft), and Mt. Hood (11,249ft), and
  • connecting the three volcano circumnavigations/summits on foot in-between.

That seems slightly more ambitious than my modest 2014 Adams to St. Helens and 2015 Adams to Hood adventures.

Given the various closures and detours, the expected route will be about 305mi long and includes a mighty 72,000ft of elevation pain. That smells like reasonable training. Last-minute route changes may happen because of changing fire conditions.

And yes, I have permits for summiting St. Helens, Adams, and for the Adams circumnavigation through the Yakama Indian Reservation.

Dot watching
