The Oregon Desert Trail (ODT) adventure cache retrieval and recycling is well under way. As of today (Oct 6, 2015), more than half of the water and food caches are retrieved. Extra attention was paid to follow strict leave-no-trace ethics and to leave the sensitive high desert environment in its original state.
All trash is being separated and recycled in order to reduce landfill waste. The cache retrieval is expected to be completed by the end of Nov 2015.

Leave-no-Trace
The challenge will be completed by following strict leave-no-trace ethics. In order to reduce landfill waste, all trash will be recycled. In particular, gel and energy bar wrappers will be recycled by TerraCycle. The buried cache bins will serve as temporary trash bins during the adventure. They will all be retrieved after the adventure.
