That means it does not matter in which direction you complete a traverse.<\/li>\r\n<li><strong>Types of records<\/strong>:\u00a0\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>Do as many traverses as possible within 48h.<\/li>\r\n<li>Do a certain number of traverses within 48h faster than anybody else.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<\/li>\r\n<li><strong>Camping<\/strong>:\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>There is a campground at the Elk Creek trailhead. It is not open year-round.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Rules<\/h4>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\r\n<li>This is not a race. You do not need to register or qualify or anything. There are no fees. Anyone can do it anytime of the year.<\/li>\r\n<li>The challenge must start at either the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oregonhikers.org\/field_guide\/Elk_Creek_Trailhead\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Elk Creek<\/a> or the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oregonhikers.org\/field_guide\/Kings_Mountain_Trailhead\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Kings Mountain<\/a> trailhead and end at one of these trailheads as well.<\/li>\r\n<li>The clock starts at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oregonhikers.org\/field_guide\/Elk_Creek_Trailhead\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Elk Creek<\/a> or the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oregonhikers.org\/field_guide\/Kings_Mountain_Trailhead\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Kings Mountain<\/a> trailhead and ends when the individual or entire team reaches either the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oregonhikers.org\/field_guide\/Elk_Creek_Trailhead\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Elk Creek<\/a> or the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oregonhikers.org\/field_guide\/Kings_Mountain_Trailhead\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Kings Mountain<\/a> trailhead again.<\/li>\r\n<li>You must finish all traverses within 48 hours. Unfinished traverses do not count.<\/li>\r\n<li>You must follow the established trails from the trailheads to the summits and between the summits.<\/li>\r\n<li>You must tag both the Elk and the Kings Mountain summit during each traverse.<\/li>\r\n<li>If you do several traverses, you have to do them in sequence, with nothing else in-between.<\/li>\r\n<li>The challenge can be done individually or in teams. If completed in a team, all team members must do all parts of the route and all traverses. Relays do not count.<\/li>\r\n<li>The clock does not stop if the individual or team sleeps, rests, etc.<\/li>\r\n<li>The challenge must be completed in a single push. Sleep, rest, etc. along the route are allowed.\u00a0No leaving the route\u00a0and returning unless by using human muscle power only.<\/li>\r\n<li>Crews and stashing of gear, food, and water are allowed. All stashes must be retrieved.<\/li>\r\n<li>Each and every part of the route must be covered on foot. Biking, skiing, snow-shoeing, paragliding, etc. is not allowed. The use of poles, crampons, and ice axes are allowed. No motorized form of transport is allowed on any part of the route.<\/li>\r\n<li>The challenge can be completed in an <a href=\"http:\/\/fastestknowntime.proboards.com\/thread\/19\/read-first\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">unsupported, self-supported, or supported<\/a> way.<\/li>\r\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/fastestknowntime.proboards.com\/thread\/19\/read-first\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Announcing your intentions<\/a> is encouraged, but not mandatory.<\/li>\r\n<li>The challenge\u00a0must be <a href=\"http:\/\/ultrapedestrian.blogspot.com\/2014\/02\/how-to-set-fastest-known-time.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">tracked<\/a> and\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/ultrapedestrian.blogspot.com\/2014\/02\/how-to-set-fastest-known-time.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">documented<\/a>.<\/li>\r\n<li>All wilderness regulations as well as Federal, State, and Local laws\u00a0must be strictly followed.<\/li>\r\n<li>Strict <a href=\"https:\/\/lnt.org\/learn\/7-principles\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">leave-no-trace<\/a> backcountry ethics must be followed.<\/li>\r\n<\/ol>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Records<\/h4>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>The list below may not be accurate and complete.
