Hood<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Mount_Jefferson_(Oregon)\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mt. Jefferson<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Three_Sisters_(Oregon)\">South Sister<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Three_Sisters_(Oregon)\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Middle Sister<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Three_Sisters_(Oregon)\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">North Sister<\/a>. I will connect the 5 peaks by running between them. The total distance is\u00a0around 150 miles (241km) with about 50,000ft (15,240 meters) of elevation gain. I expect this endurance challenge\u00a0to take anywhere between 70 and 90 hours. Nothing too crazy. To the best of my knowledge,\u00a0no such attempt has\u00a0ever been made. Jefferson<\/a>,10\\,497,3\\,199,5\\,777<br \/>\n3,<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Three_Sisters_(Oregon)\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">South Sister<\/a>,10\\,358,3\\,157,5\\,588<br \/>\n4,<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Three_Sisters_(Oregon)\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">North Sister<\/a>,10\\,085,3\\,062,2\\,725<br \/>\n5,<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Three_Sisters_(Oregon)\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Middle Sister<\/a>,10\\,047,3\\,062,1\\,127<br \/>\n[\/table]<\/p>\n<h4>The Route<\/h4>\n<p>I will start at the South Sister <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fs.usda.gov\/recarea\/deschutes\/recarea\/?recid=38850\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Devil&#8217;s Lake trailhead<\/a>, climb the 3 Sisters first (a.k.a. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.summitpost.org\/three-sisters\/171182#chapter_6\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">3 Sisters Marathon<\/a>;\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.oregonlive.com\/news\/index.ssf\/2009\/09\/bend_man_sets_record_for_climb.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">current FKT: 6:39<\/a>), run to Mt. Jefferson, climb Mt. Jefferson, run to Mt. Hood, and finally climb Mt. Hood. The running part will be mostly on the PCT. It&#8217;s all pretty much a straight line (see map below), or so I like to think. Depending on conditions (rockfall, snow, ice, visibility) and the time of the day, I may have to skip\u00a0the summit pinnacles on North Sister (<span class=\"s1\">a.k.a. Faith, Ugly Sister, Gnarly Northy, or The Black Beast of the Cascades<\/span>) and\/or Mt. Jefferson for safety reasons. Since I&#8217;m doing this solo, I will not have any protection on the very last 100-200ft or so of these two exposed class 4 climbs. Only 5 peaks and a few other hills to conquer.<\/p><\/div>\n<h4>Logistics<\/h4>\n<p>The adventure will be <a href=\"http:\/\/fastestknowntime.proboards.com\/thread\/19\/read-first\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">supported<\/a>\u00a0by <em>beloved super empress<\/em> (BSE)\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.teuscher-counseling.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ursina<\/a>. As usual, the logistics are non-trivial. We have about 7 support\u00a0locations along the route. To avoid meeting mishaps, Ursina will be able to track my <a href=\"http:\/\/bit.ly\/5x10CTracking\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">SPOT location<\/a> on the Iridium satellite network from anywhere, even without cell phone reception. For the Mt. Jefferson climb, she\u00a0will have to hike into <a href=\"http:\/\/www.oregonhikers.org\/field_guide\/Jefferson_Park\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jefferson Park<\/a>\u00a0during the night\u00a0and carry all my climbing gear (in addition to her own gear, tent, and food) to meet me on the PCT in the early morning hours. Jefferson Whitewater glacier.
