The infamous John Cappis 50k Fat Ass is on! Last year, 12 crazy runners showed up and 2 finished. I earned my first DFL. This year, with 49 entrants (as of Jul 5), the field looks deep and intimidating: https://ultrasignup.com/entrants_event.aspx?did=53122. Perhaps I shouldn’t have logged 70mi and over 16,000ft of elevation gain during this week as part of my “acclimatization taper.” Oh well, it’s called training for a bigger purpose. Or something along these lines.
The John Cappis 50k elevation profile. 6 out of 7 peaks reach 13,000ft.
